Thought of the Day - The Golden Dollar

75802-437552-thumbnail.jpgThis was on a vending machine I wandered by the other day.  The US Mint has had a heck of time trying to get the US to adopt the Dollar Coin.  I remember how excited they were when the coin was introduced in 2000.  There was a great hope that people would adopt the coins in lieu of the dollar bill.  The lifespan of a coin is much greater than a bill and the dollar coin was hoped to reduce the printing and handling costs for the mint.

Change happens slowly.  Adoption of the coins has been slow, at best.  How often as you seen dollar coins?  (BTW - if you want to see them, go use a stamp vending machine at the local post office and'll get dollar coins back.)
