Here are the top 10 for Dec 2008.

Import Rank Country Dec 2008 % of Imports
1 Canada 18.8%
2 Saudi Arabia 12.3%
3 Venezuela 11.1%
4 Mexico 10.4%
5 Nigeria 9.4%
6 Algeria 5.5%
7 Angola 4.2%
8 Iraq 4.0%
9 Russia 3.4%
10 Virgin Islands (U.S.) 2.9%

My question is, how many of those countries are actually places you want to be sending your money? Seems a few of them are a bit 'unfriendly' towards the US. The good news is we get more oil from Canada than the Persian Gulf (18.8% vs 18%).

Also, let's review what countries make up OPEC

Algeria
Angola
Ecuador
Indonesia
Iran
Iraq
Kuwait
Libya
Nigeria
Qatar
Saudi Arabia
United Arab Emirates
Venezuela
